Suggested Four-Year Plan of Study
The Studio Art Option 2-D emphasis and 3-D emphasis follow. Students’ plan of
study may need to be modified due to availability of courses, scheduling/time
conflicts, etc. Students should confer with their advisors to develop a plan of
study that will meet their educational goals.

1 Students exempt from the graduation requirement for foreign language will have
8 semester hours of free electives to complete for degree requirements; for the
foreign language exemption see Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree listed in
the Undergraduate Catalog.
2 Students are required to complete a course with a focus on cultural diversity.
Students can take one of several designated general education courses; see General
Education courses Listed by Segment in the General Education section of the Undergraduate
Catalog.
3 30 semester hours of courses numbered 3000 or above must be taken from these
courses to complete graduation requirement of at least 40 semester hours in upper
division courses (3000-4000 numbered courses).
4 Art 3680, Modern European Painting and Sculpture, is a required course for the
3D Studio Option and offered only during the Fall semester of even-numbered years.
5 Must be writing intensive courses and one of the writing intensive courses must
be a 3000 level course to fulfill EWP requirements.
6 Writing intensive Art History courses.
