CRM 3871 - Gender and Crime: A Feminist Analysis of Criminal Behavior.


(3-0-3) On Demand. Drawing on theories and concepts of feminist criminology, this course will examine various topics that are crucial to understanding how gender matters in practically every aspect of crime and punishment. It will also analyze how the dynamics of patriarchy, law, and societal values, as well as the intersection of race, class, and gender/sexuality create unique experiences for women and men in the criminal justice system. 

Prerequisites & Notes:
SOC 1838G: Introductory to Sociology, CRM/SOC 2761: Introduction to Criminology, WGS 2309G: Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies, or WGS 2310G: Introduction to Sexuality and Gender Diversity (or transfer equivalent of these courses). Credit will not be granted for both SOC/CRM 3871 and SOC 3960H - Special Topics: Gender and Crime.
