The Journalism minor introduces students to the skills necessary to practice news writing and editing for multiple platforms. Students learn how to report breaking news and examine the role news media play in a healthy democracy. Students learn to think critically, produce creatively, process information quickly, interview thoughtfully, and write precisely.

Journalism minors need to complete 12 semester hours of journalism coursework. Students may select any JOU prefix course as an elective, except for JOU 1000G.
