Admission to the Music Honors Program requires a 3.5 GPA, permission of the Music Honors Coordinator, and permission of the Dean of the Honors College.

Departmental Honors Requirements
Students in the Music Honors Program must complete at least 12 credit hours of honors courses in music from among the following courses: A three-credit hour graduate course in music:
A three-credit hour graduate course in music selected with the permission of the Music Honors Coordinator is also required. (Honors Independent Study/Honors Research or Honors Seminar may be repeated as a substitute for this requirement with the permission of the Music Honors Coordinator.) The Honors Thesis (MUS 4644) can take one of three forms:
- A full recital with accompanying analysis of the works performed.
- An original composition with accompanying analysis.
- Intensive research of a music topic culminating in a scholarly paper.
