PSY 5023 - Preschool Assessment for Prevention and Intervention


(3-0-3) This course will consist of classroom instruction and discussion, and practical experience. The classroom component will deal with the assessment of young children’s cognitive, pre-academic, adaptive, and social-emotional development. Students will learn how to evaluate and administer various assessments with young children or their caregivers to assist in intervention planning.  Students will administer select practice assessments and provide written summary evaluations. Students will also learn about risk factors related to preschool academic failure and prevention and intervention to increase young student success. Consideration is given to children from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Requires additional fee to cover costs of forms needed for psychological testing.  

Prerequisites & Notes
PSY 5020 and PSY 5022. Enrollment in the School Psychology program.
