BIO 4836 - Pathogenic Microbiology.(2-4-4) An introduction to the role and activities of pathogenic microorganisms in the diseases of humans, animals, and plants with emphasis on the history, classification, morphology, nutrition and growth, metabolism, genetics, and virulence factors of disease-causing prokaryotes as well as the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the diseases they cause. The laboratory will emphasize clinical techniques required for the isolation, cultivation, and identification of pathogenic microorganisms. Prerequisites & Notes BIO 3300 or equivalent. Credits: 4 |
